Sports betting in Armenia is legal and regulated under the Law on Games of Chance, Internet Games of Chance and Casino, enacted by the Republic of Armenia. All forms of gambling, including bookmaker activities, are governed by this law and relevant government decisions (1).
To operate sports betting services, organizations must obtain a licence from the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Armenia. Applicants must be registered commercial entities, provide server location details within Armenia, and comply with annual duty payments and other regulatory requirements (1)(2).
"The requirements for organisation of Games of Chance, Internet Games of Chance and Casino in RA are mainly regulated by the RA Law on Games of Chance, Internet Games of Chance and Casino and the Decision of the Government of RA No. 1164-N of 29 July 2004." (1)
Advertising for sports betting is further restricted under the Law on Advertising, which prohibits gambling ads on radio, television, and digital platforms, except on licensed operators’ own websites and premises. Penalties for non-compliance include fines and possible licence suspension (2).
